Senior Banquet

Here's a quick layout I did for Jennifer's Senior Banquet… close as the private school gets to a prom - they dress up and it's an awards banquet and the seniors get to sit at the big table - because it's their night!

I had no idea what beautiful young lady you were until this night... I mean, I always knew you were pretty - but you were my little girl, so I was always biased! For this special night, we had planned to get a custom-made dress, but plans fell through and we ran out of time, so off to the mall we went - you knew what you wanted, a mermaid cut - we were on a tight schedule, we wanted to hurry and pick up your senior photos that we’d just ordered at the One Hour Studio - you see, nothing was ordered on time for your graduation... so when we walked into the store - you quickly walked through all the gorgeous dresses and stopped at this one... not knowing what Nicole, your best friend and I, would think - you gathered the courage to ask us and we swept you off to the fitting room, once you put it on, we weren’t sure we’d get it off of you - that’s how much you loved it! And you haven’t looked back sense... we drove back over, picked up your photos and then we ordered a bolero jacket to finish off your banquet outfit... plus, you even found the perfect black strappy high heels that you dreamed about - everything fell into place... even if it was all last minute - you looked like we planned it all along - and you were gorgeous!

And Jenny, it was a night to remember - when you had two dates show up... fortunately, Lacie took one of them off of your hands... unfortunately, the wrong one!

Lacie and Jennifer… you both cheered each other on... friends always and finally grads together!

Yay! She did it!

My daughter graduated high school last week… after a near miss! Anyways, it was quite a struggle to keep her motivated - in fact, she wasn't motivated at all - and even quit high school for two weeks. No amount of prodding, begging, shaming or bribing would work… but what finally worked, a young man told her he was disappointed in her because she quit school. That snapped her into gear and made her realize that she had too much going for her to quit… and that it would be a sad mistake to not get back up. So, on her own accord she made arrangements to apologize to the principal and re-enroll herself in school. She went to a private school since 3rd grade, so alas the curriculum was different than public school - her school worked on a PACE program, at your own pace workbooks - however, a certain amount of each subject are necessary for graduation - so her credits that she needed were rounded up to 29 tests in 35 school days… and she did it! With taking a few days off here and there! The stress that has lifted from this girl since graduation is amazing - and the stress lifting off our own family is quite amazing too… in fact, no longer are we thinking divorce - but we are thinking of a sweet future together… it's been a hard 6 months - but God brought us through it… intact and stronger…
